Reconstruction All it takes is your five-year-old daughter in a yellow sundress drawing with crayons in a school notebook entitled A Short History of My Life for it to hit you. Suddenly you want to redesign the house over again with gables, plow under the overgrown hillside and plant it with bee balm and butterfly bush, weed everything out of your life until that one flower remains you will spend a lifetime nurturing as it grows to fill all the rooms you could possibly build. Wow. Speaking of one flower. This is a rare bloom. (I would go with "Reconstruction" for the title.) Penelope

Cornelius, very nice. Children are a fresh start aren't they? Love the bee balm and butterfly bushes. K |

Corn... Of all your postings thus far here at Wild, I think this is the strongest and I certainly favor it the most. May your home be ever-expanding and vase a bouquet of beautiful children. Cary... |

Sometimes it only takes a smile in the right direction and the heart melts from the heat of ideas that transpire. In this case, it was a school notebook. Lovely thought behind this and I concur with Cary's wish above. D |

Just lovely, Corny. Hope you don't mind, but I think the line/verse breaks could stand some juggling. An offering for your consideration: All it takes is your five-year-old daughter in yellow sundress drawing with crayons in a school notebook entitled A Short History of My Life. Suddenly you want to redesign the house with gables, plow under the overgrown hillside, plant bee balm and butterfly bush, weed everything out of your life until one flower remains you will spend a lifetime nurturing as it grows to fill all the rooms you could build. Toss or use what you wish. Hope something will prove helpful.

Cornelius, a wonderful poem. Well, I guess you do have that one 'flower' to nurture after all. Best, Kathryn |

Sweet sweet one. One day she will read this and it will mean more to her than all the gables you could ever add. A true gem. E |
